Navajo Pearls is a name that has been used to describe authentic Navajo handmade beads. The term has been popularized over the years and is now used to describe silver beads that are machined-formed and hand-finished to resemble "old" or "antiqued" beads (ie-handcrafted)
Traditionally, Navajo pearls are made by cutting two silver disc and doming each side. Once domed the holes are drilled in the center and the two halves are then filed to fit snug and soldered together. Beads made in this style are consider true, authentic handmade beads.
This earrings's beads are machine-formed and soldered. They are hand-finished with an old-style patina and strung by Navajo artist Vangie Touchine. This earring is Navajo hand-crafted/assembled.
